Hospital teams across Washington are connecting patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) to treatment and recovery support, yet many still face challenges helping patients transition to care after leaving the hospital or emergency department. To support continued learning and collaboration, WSHA Clinical Excellence invites you to join a follow-up roundtable on June 24 from 2-3:30 p.m.
This session will focus on advancing discussions around OUD referral and community pathways, with a particular emphasis on the State Directed Payment Program (SDPP) Follow-up after Emergency Department Visit for Substance Use Disorder (FUA) measure.
This roundtable is part of WSHA’s 2026 Opioid Harm Prevention Quarterly Peer Forum Series and builds on the June 15 session, Quarter 2: OUD Referrals & Community Resource Pathways. That session highlighted real-world examples of hospital-community partnerships across Washington. This follow-up session will go deeper, offering a more interactive, member-driven opportunities to explore shared challenges and solutions.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Join peers in meaningful discussion on OUD referral and follow-up strategies highlighting successes and exploring opportunities to strengthen support for patients after inpatient or ED visits.
- Share practical lessons learned from community partnerships, including virtual care approaches.
- Explore strategies to improve performance on the SDPP FUA measure by strengthening timely follow-up connections to care.
- Inform WSHA’s future efforts by identifying where additional tools, guidance, convening, or advocacy are needed.
This roundtable complements the broader Peer Forum Series by:
- Deepening discussion on priority topics identified by hospital leaders.
- Expanding opportunities for peer-to-peer learning beyond presentation-based sessions.
- Informing future forums, resources, and statewide quality improvement initiatives.
We encourage participation from professionals across care teams, including:
- Clinical and medical leaders
- Emergency department staff
- Care coordination and case management teams
- Social work and behavioral health professionals
- Pharmacy teams
- Quality and performance improvement staff
This session is designed as a collaborative forum where your insights and experiences will directly shape WSHA’s ongoing work. Participation will help guide future peer forums and support efforts to strengthen community resource pathways and continuity of care for patients with OUD. (Tina Seery)
