Free naloxone education materials are available for hospitals to order through the Washington State Health Care Authority’s Starts with One campaign. Adopting these materials is one way for hospitals to achieve points on Part 2 of the 2026 Medicaid Quality Incentive Opioid Harm Prevention metric.
To help reach more communities, patient-facing materials are now available in seven languages: English, Spanish, Amharic, Chinese, Russian, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. The materials are designed to support conversations about opioid safety and naloxone and include resources for both patients and providers.
Available naloxone materials include:
- Patient rack cards for waiting rooms and exam rooms that explain what naloxone is, why carrying it matters, how it works and where to get it.
- Patient prescription handouts that providers or pharmacists can give directly to patients when prescribing an opioid and/or naloxone.
- After visit summary templates that provide education about naloxone for patients at discharge.
Materials are available at no cost and will be shipped directly to your facility. Orders are open through the end of August, and all materials will be shipped in September.
