The Department of Health (DOH) has announced rulemaking to allow individuals with active EMT-basic, EMT-advanced or paramedic credentials to work in hospitals under a new Medical Assistant credential.
The MA-EMT credential is available to emergency medical services personnel without additional education or testing – however, they must complete a notification process with DOH. This notification process requires DOH to complete rulemaking and for the department to collect certification fees and issue the credential. Draft rule language is available here.
WSHA supported MA-EMT bill which became law during the last legislative session, and will be engaged and provide updates on when the credential is available. Please contact Remy Kerr with any questions. (Remy Kerr)
