Hospital boards are essential to ensuring safe, high-quality care. As part of WSHA’s 2025–2027 strategic plan, we’re giving members a tool to support governance with a new series of quick, practical education shorts. These 15-20 minute modules give boards the tools they need to lead confidently on safety and quality.

Each short includes a facilitator guide to spark discussion and engagement. Topics cover critical responsibilities, including:

  • The board’s role in safety and quality.
  • Understanding clinical measures.
  • Meeting state and federal regulatory requirements
  • Oversight of QAPI and CQIP programs.
  • Credentialing and privileging medical staff.

Accessing the courses is simple through the Governance Education Portal. After creating an account, board members can browse the course catalog, select a topic, and watch the recording. Be sure to click “Complete” after viewing to log credit.

These education shorts are designed to make governance education accessible, actionable, and impactful helping boards fulfill their vital role in advancing patient safety and quality care.
