WSHA led the largest member delegation in Rural Advocacy Days’ history to D.C. last week. Together, members delivered urgent messages to lawmakers on the looming impacts of HR 1.

In direct meetings with lawmakers and staff, hospital leaders spotlighted the growing fragility of Washington’s hospitals and voiced serious concerns about Medicare Advantage and the increasing use of AI to authorize or deny care. The group also pressed the importance of avoiding a government shutdown and championed maintaining premium tax credits to support health exchange participants.

Traveling to the other Washington to meet with members of Congress is an effective way to raise the level of attention on issues impacting health care. We appreciate the members who took the time to advocate for all our state’s rural hospitals and invite you to join us again in 2026.

Sincerely,

Jacqueline Barton True
