The University of Washington Addiction, Drug, and Alcohol Institute is launching a new monthly learning opportunity, bringing together emergency medical services teams, emergency department health care workers, hospital administrators and other first responders to address emerging practices to strengthen care for people with substance use disorders (SUD).
People with SUDs are five times more likely to seek emergency services than the general public and these encounters are an opportunity to provide meaningful care to support their long-term recovery.
This meeting, Expanding and Improving SUD Care in Emergency Services, occurs every fourth Tuesday, 9-10 a.m., and the November topic is peer support in the emergency department. Review the flyer for more information and register for the meeting here. (Brittany Weiner)
