Now in its second year, WSHA’s Clinical Excellence Report showcases what’s possible when hospitals work together. The 2025 edition tells the story of improvement and collaboration across more than a dozen initiatives. This year, hospitals leaned into shared learning through DELTA Collaboratives tackling health care’s toughest challenges, including:

  •  Reducing readmissions in the adult Medicaid population.

  • Screening for substance use disorder and distribution of naloxone in the Emergency Department.

  • De-escalation skill building and workplace violence response.

  • Pediatric pain management.

The report also celebrates the work of hospital staffing committees across the state supporting each other in implementing Washington state’s staffing law, among many other collaborations. The result is measurable gains in key outcomes for patients.

I encourage you to read this report to better understand how Washington’s hospitals are working in partnership, expanding access and driving improvements in care.

Sincerely,

Megan Herman
