Seattle-based Swedish Health Services released its 2017 Community Benefit Report in June, detailing the more than $200 million in community benefit it provided for the year. This included $23.9 million in free and discounted care, marking a 12 percent increase from 2016. Like many rural communities, Chelan is facing a shortage of providers to care for residents. To address this, Lake Chelan Community Hospital & Clinics will partner with the University of Washington and Columbia Valley Community Health (CVCH) to offer a rural residency program in town.
