Family practice physicians topped the list of most requested recruiting assignments for the 12th consecutive year, according to Merritt Hawkins’ 2018 Review of Physician and Advanced Practitioner Recruiting Incentives. The average starting salary for family medicine doctors was also the highest amount ever recorded in the review, at $241,000. Other key findings in this year’s review include:
- A rise in the use of quality/value-based physician compensation.
- Growth in the average physician signing bonus to more than $33,000.
- Accelerating demand for nurse practitioners and physician assistants, in addition to primary care.
