July 8, 2020

With the 2020 legislative session ending months ago, the implementation of new laws passed during the session is in full swing. To learn about, prepare for and ultimately deal with the new laws, please periodically visit  the WSHA Government Affairs Team’s New Law Implementation Guide. WSHA members will find a list of high priority bills that passed this legislative session, the resources the WSHA team has prepared to aid our members, the law effective dates and a schedule of when additional resources will be released. Among the recent publications:

  • Addressing Opioid Use, including PMP/EHR integration
  • Changes to Washington’s Involuntary Treatment laws (series of three bulletins and webinar)
  • Data Breach Reporting Requirements
  • Health Care Benefit Managers
  • Rural Home Health Shortage Area Designation
  • Informed Consent to Pelvic Exams
  • Modernizing HIV Laws
  • Oversight of Psychiatric Hospitals
  • Physician Assistance Practice Act
  • Protecting Patient Care
  • Sexual Assault Kits
  • Substitute Providers
  • Telemedicine

The webpage also contains all of the resources the team prepared for the laws passed during the 2019 legislative session. (Jaclyn Greenberg, jaclyng@wsha.org)
