WSHA Encourages Hospitals to Comment on Proposed CMS Medicaid Fiscal Accountability Rule

January 29, 2020

CMS has proposed a new rule on Medicaid Fiscal Accountability that could result in Medicaid cuts in Washington to both hospitals and the state. WSHA is taking it very seriously – it threatens both the Safety Net Assessment Program as well as our state’s use of Intergovernmental Transfers.

Last week, WSHA has sent a copy of its draft comment letter to all WSHA members.  The letter requests CMS to withdraw the proposed rule. We encourage members to also comment and include in their own letters the impact cuts would have on Medicaid services.

Comments are due by Feb. 1, but we recommend they be submitted by Jan. 31. Comments should be submitted electronically via regulations.gov. Please copy us on any comments you submit to help us strengthen our advocacy efforts. Specific questions about our comment letter can be directed to Andrew Busz at andrewB@wsha.org  or 206-216-2533.
