WHS-HQS peer review program continues to grow

August 29, 2019

Washington Hospital Services’ Healthcare Quality Services (WHS-HQS) has been providing peer review services for over 15 years and now serves 36 Rural Hospitals in Washington and Alaska. In the last year alone, it has provided 140 onsite peer review visits and 110 specialty reviews. And the program continues to grow!

Our affordable specialty review program continues to add new specialties to its mix. Four specialists were added to the remote specialty review panel, adding gynecologic oncology, ophthalmology, podiatry and thoracic surgery to WHS-HQS’ service offerings. Other specialties represented include, but are not limited to, anesthesia, cardiology, critical care, endocrinology, gastroenterology, long-term/geriatric, neonatology, nephrology, neurosurgery, OB/GYN, oncology, orthopedics, psychiatry, radiology, rheumatology, urology and wound care. If you need peer review for a specialty that is not listed above, WHS-HQS can always source the reviewer you need.

Earlier this year, Dr. Mark Zarzycki joined the team of WHS-HQS onsite peer reviewers. Dr. Zarzycki is board-certified in emergency medicine and has already proven to be a great asset to the program. Last year, WHS-HQS added onsite peer review for OB/GYN and Orthopedics as well as onsite and remote peer review for clinics.

WHS-HQS is currently working with one of our clients to develop a program to proctor OB physicians. If a proctoring service in any specialty would be of interest to you, please contact Rich Boucher, WHS Peer Review Program Manager, at (206) 216-2504 or RichB@wsha.org. (Rich Boucher)
