This fall, the Association of Washington Public Hospital Districts (AWPHD) and WSHA will offer the three-part webinar series “Substance Use Disorder Care in Rural Settings: Reducing Barriers to Care.” This rural-focused series will offer education on a variety of topics and spotlight work being done in rural communities across Washington. The first session, “How Stigma Impacts Access to Care,” is from 12-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13. Register for the series here.
Opioid-related deaths continue to rise across Washington State, and with the rapid spread of fentanyl in other drugs, the challenges faced by care providers will likely continue. AWPHD and WSHA are working together to support hospitals in our rural communities that are providing services to patients with substance use disorders. If you have questions or would be open to sharing work your facility has implemented to provide care for these patients, please contact Brittany Weiner at BrittanyW@wsha.org. (Brittany Weiner)
