Register for Honoring Choices Pacific Northwest’s serious illness conversation guide training

June 23, 2023

Honoring Choices Pacific Northwest (HCPNW) is offering several opportunities to learn a new approach to teaching the serious illness conversation guide. The guide uses shared decision making and patient-tested language to uncover what matters most to the individual and plan for the future.  Ariadne Labs, founded by Atul Gawande, studied the guide in diverse clinical settings to develop the new approach. The results are impressive for the method with improved outcomes on all aspects of the quadruple aim.

Training involves real-time coaching using simulated “role-plays,” ensuring that clinicians feel confident in using the guide. CME/CECH is given for pre-work, class time and one real-time conversation.

Normally this type of training is only offered on a limited basis within individual health care systems. However, we are excited to offer courses to the public bi-monthly. All health care professions are welcome! Upcoming  training dates are:

  • Friday, July 14 7:45-11 a.m. PT (waitlist only)
  • Wednesday, July 19 1:45-5 p.m. PT (waitlist only)
  • Friday, August 11 7:45-11 a.m. PT
  • Tuesday, August 15 1:45-5 p.m. PT
