With open enrollment underway, Jefferson Healthcare’s financial service office is helping Port Townsend area residents navigate the process of signing up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. In addition to regular office hours when members of the public can visit for assistance, the financial service office is opening its doors on numerous Saturdays between November and January, and counselors will be on hand on several Saturdays at the Jefferson County Library to assist the community.
“We are a part of this community and it is our role to reach out to community members in as many ways as we can to help them understand and enroll into a plan that can meet their needs, both medically and financially,” Jefferson Healthcare Financial Counselor Jennie Tjemsland said. “At some point, everyone needs medical care.”
Health insurance is paramount for a healthy community, as it helps ensure residents get the care they need and seek preventative treatment that can help them avoid hospital visits.
