On July 1, 2022, the Department of Social & Health Services (DSHS) Home & Community Services (HCS) launched a new guardianship pilot program. HCS is now accepting requests from hospitals to assist in finding a Certified Public Guardian (CPG) and/or petitioning for guardianship for a specific population of clients. WSHA has been a strong advocate for making the guardianship program available as soon as possible. The program is a small part of the necessary work to help address hospital capacity issues and alleviate strain on patients and providers.
DSHS asks that hospitals work with regional staff to make referrals to the program and submit requests per the instructions in the program’s information sheet. Please reach out to Zosia Stanley at zosias@wsha.org if you have any questions accessing the program.
