Washingtonians looking to enroll for health coverage on the Health Benefit Exchange may do so between November 1, 2020 and January 15, 2021. For coverage starting January 1, individuals need to enroll in a plan by December 15. Those who enroll after that deadline but before January 15 will have coverage starting on February 1. Health plan participation will be robust in 2021, with 13 insurers offering coverage for 2021 on the Exchange. Washingtonians will see new standardized plans and the state’s new public option health plans, which will be available in 20 counties across the state.
Washingtonians looking for health insurance coverage should visit Washington Healthplanfinder for more information and to enroll. Low-income Washingtonians enrolling in Medicaid may do so at any time of year and are not subject to the open enrollment period. (Shirley Prasad, ShirleyP@wsha.org)
