The Washington Health Benefit Exchange has announced that nearly 174,000 Washington State residents have signed up for or renewed their health coverage as of Jan. 2. The deadline to select a Qualified Health Plan is Jan. 31 for coverage beginning March 1.
According to data from the exchange, 124,000 residents have renewed a health plan since open enrollment began, and more than 50,000 have signed up for new coverage, which marks an increase of nearly 48 percent from the 2015 open enrollment period. This increase includes a 66 percent increase in sign-ups by those under the age of 35.
More information on the current enrollment numbers is available here. WSHA has long-supported programs and policies that make it easier for Washington residents to get health insurance, and we are pleased with the increase in enrollment through Washington Healthplanfinder. (Zosia Stanley)
