Ballots have arrived — don’t forget to vote!

October 27, 2016

Election Day is November 8, but voting in Washington State is already well underway through our mail-in system, and you should have received your ballots in the mail. (If you have not, contact your county auditor.) While the presidential race has dominated the news, the big unknown in our state is which party will control the state House (currently majority Democrat) and Senate (currently majority Republican).

The Washington Hospital Political Action Committee (WHPAC) has been very active this election cycle. We have made contributions of more than $352,000 to state races and more than $43,000 to candidates for federal offices. We appreciate all your contributions to our PAC — it is a material way we help elect champions for hospitals and health care.

We hope you and your employees will not only vote, but will vote to make Washington a health care leader. It’s not too late to register, and while online and mail-in voter registration is closed, in-person registration is available until October 30.

It’s a remarkable country and democracy we inhabit, isn’t it? Even though this election cycle has been particularly bruising, I’m so thankful to be a part of a country that peacefully elects its government.
