Webinar on bloodborne pathogens, exposure prevention and post-exposure requirements

Washington Hospital Services (WHS) Preferred Partner Stericycle will host a webinar at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, on bloodborne pathogens, exposure prevention and post exposure requirements. Stericycle Manager of OSHA and HIPAA Compliance Jamie Farley will define what a bloodborne pathogen is and provide examples of more common pathogens, such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Human Immunodeficiency Virus. Jamie will also discuss different methods to help prevent exposure and protect employees. Attendees will also learn about OSHA’s requirement in the bloodborne pathogens standard for employers, which include exposure control plans, compliant sharps containers and proper label identification. Lastly, Jamie will review the steps you should take in the event of exposure.
