Shriners Hospitals for Children – Spokane launches system’s first urgent pediatric fracture clinic

Shriners urgent fracture clinic patient.For more than 90 years, Shriners Hospitals for Children ― Spokane has been caring for pediatric orthopaedic conditions, treating kids 18 and under from Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska and Canada, and around the world. It treats conditions ranging from fractures and sports injuries easily corrected through same-day surgery to serious orthopaedic issues requiring multiple surgeries. Children receive total fracture care at Shriners Hospital in Spokane, including radiology, lab services, reduction/re-alignment, surgery, casting, post-fracture follow-up and rehabilitation. All care and services are provided regardless of the patient’s ability to pay.

As demand for specialty pediatric services has continued to grow, the Spokane hospital has expanded key services, including the system’s first Urgent Pediatric Fracture Clinic.

The popularity of this clinic has exceeded the hospital’s expectations. Children with a documented fracture from an urgent care facility or hospital emergency room are sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Spokane the following business day, without the need for an appointment. The immediate referral process to the fracture clinic provides a reliable solution for busy providers, and parents appreciate the expedited care.

The popular program gives priority scheduling to its pediatric fracture patients, Monday through Friday from 7:30-9am. If the child’s medical needs require surgery, the patient may be fast-tracked into same-day surgery. The Urgent Pediatric Fracture Clinic highlights the expert services and streamlined processes that the Spokane Shriners Hospital already embodies, offering high-quality pediatric specialty care. Its medical staff also adjusted and increased capacity to care for patients coming through the fracture clinic.
