New state law adds requirements for treating mammography patients

On January 1st, a new state law went in to effect requiring providers to share breast density classification information with mammography patients. To prepare for the new requirements, the Department of Health released this guidance document, which includes specific information regarding what must be included in a patient’s summary report. We recommend that all hospitals review this information and ensure their physicians performing mammograms are familiar with this new guidance.
