L&I launches incentive program for light work following on-the-job injury

July 7, 2016

The Department of Labor & industries (L&I) has launched the “Stay at Work” program, which provides financial incentives to state fund employers who bring their injured workers back to light duty following an on-the-job injury claim. When employers return workers to medically approved light duty positions, they may receive a 50 percent wage reimbursement for up to 66 light-duty days actually worked or up to a $10,000 reimbursement, whichever comes first. There are other reimbursements available as well. To date, L&I has reimbursed more than $46 million to keep more than 18,000 workers on light duty and receiving wages. L&I will also hold numerous workshops and webinars with more information.
