HCA Provides Notice of State Plan Amendment for Administrative Day Services

The Health Care Authority posted notice of a State Plan Amendment (SPA) to provide payment for specific hospital services provided while a Medicaid patient under administrative day payment awaits discharge to a more appropriate setting effective January 1, 2024. Senate Bill 5103 requires the state to pay separately for medically necessary services such as surgical procedures, hemodialysis, laboratory, and x-rays that would not normally be provided in a post-acute setting. HCA will determine which specific services will be covered later this year. WSHA will be closely monitoring the process and ensure member hospitals are aware of any needed billing changes.
