In Washington State, Breast Cancer is the number one cancer diagnosed in females. According to the American Cancer Society, Inc., Surveillance Research, in 2015 alone there were approximately 5,480 females diagnosed with breast cancer in the state, and 830 of those diagnoses resulted in death. Although African American women are less likely than White women to be diagnosed with breast cancer, the mortality rate is higher in African American females than in White females. American Indian females have the highest rate of breast cancer in Washington State, but a much lower mortality rate than African American or White Females.
