DLP ACR DIR JUL DEC 2016 (003)

Posted on September 27, 2017September 27, 2017 by Megan Boucher

The image is a representation of DLP data values from the 2016 July-December American College of Radiology's DIR Sample Report (page 18, column 2). Each of three lines illustrates the 25-quartile, median and 75-quartile for DLP values from 98,210 facilities across the nation. While the initiative lacks national benchmarks and DRLs for pediatric head CTs, this is our current best estimate for optimal dose-to-image performance. The lesson learned is that doses of radiation required for viable images follow relatively linear progressions as patients' age or size increase.
