The words say, MoMMAs Voices, Maternal mortality and morbidity advocates Your story is powerful, and your voice matters. Listening to patients is essential to creating healthcare that is compassionate, equitable and inclusive. The Certified Patient Family Partner training program, operated by MoMMAs Voices, is for patients who have had pregnancy and/or childbirth complications or pregnancy loss. It provides them with the skills needed to effectively share their stories.

The training is free and offers a unique opportunity for patients to use their experiences to make meaningful change in maternal health care. Those who complete the program will earn a certification as a Patient Family Partner.

We welcome interest from all birthing people and their partners, especially people from historically underserved communities. We honor and encourage the sharing of stories and knowledge from other diverse backgrounds, belief, and lived experiences. This project is committed to elevating the voices of all individuals who have experienced pregnancy and/or childbirth complications, or pregnancy loss. We want to provide this opportunity to anyone who wants to participate.

What is a Patient Family Partner?

MoMMAs Voices Certified Patient Family Partners are individuals who have experience in pregnancy and/or childbirth complications, or loss, and have completed an online training program to gain valuable skills to improve maternal health care.

Through the MoMMAs Voices certification training program, PFPs gain valuable skills in effectively sharing their maternal health experiences. This equips them to be advocates and catalysts for positive change. PFP’s may partner with state quality improvement collaboratives on projects, speak at conferences, consult with small teams, and so much more.

Group Training Model

Sometimes it can feel like you are the only person you know who suffered a loss or complications. This is an opportunity for participants to meet with a small group of people who have been there too and are also going through the PFP training process. We will take time to talk about the trainings, work on completing it together, cheer each other on and share ideas. The group is not meant to be a therapeutic relationship, and no individual advice will be given.

We will have two training groups in early 2025.
