Virtual DEI Workshop Session 2

Dates: February 10 & 24, March 10 & 24 & April 7 (12:00 – 1:00 pm PST)
Hospital leadership teams are highly encouraged to attend together with trustees, commissioners and other members of management to ensure buy-in from all levels. Sessions will be recorded and distributed to registrants.
Participants can earn up to five credit hours towards their WSHA & AWPHD Health Care Governance certification or recertification. Each session in the five-part series counts as one credit hour.

Feb 24 – Equitable Conversations
As diversity, equity and inclusion approaches continue to expand within a 21st century cultural framework, this session directly confronts internal scenarios that routinely surface in organizations during DEI strategy adoption. Healthcare leaders will learn how to engage managers and teams at every phase of their DEI strategy implementation.
Meet our Speaker
An award-winning journalist on racism in medicine, Dr. Kevin Ahmaad Jenkins is an electrifying voice dedicated to eliminating racial health disparities. He helps organizations to understand and dismantle the effects of racism from health and healthcare delivery, explaining how it harms health, workplace culture, and organizational performance. Dr. Jenkins uses straight talk, personal story telling and interactive exercises to introduce evidence-based solutions that can be harnessed to help organizations advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Dr. Jenkins attained his Bachelor’s degree from North Carolina Central University, a Master’s degree from Florida A&M University, and received a Ph.D. in Sociology and Criminology & Law from the University of Florida. He presently serves as lecturer and visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania and is appointed within the School of Nursing, the School of Social Policy & Practice, and the Annenberg School of Communications. He currently serves as a fellow within the Veterans Health Administration’s Office of Minority Health and on the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine’s Roundtable on Health Equity.
