CANCELLED – NHSN COVID-19 Reporting
March 26, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am
Dear Hospital Partners,
NHSN plans to introduce a new COVID-19 module in the Patient Safety Component in a matter of days. The module will enable hospitals to report daily COVID-19 patient counts to NHSN, and NHSN, in turn, will enable state and local health departments to gain immediate access to the COVID-19 data for hospitals in their jurisdiction. COVID-19 data submitted to NHSN also will be used immediately by the CDC’s emergency COVID-19 response. NHSN’s role as a shared platform for healthcare-associated infection surveillance provides a valuable foundation for COVID-19 surveillance. A very large number of the nation’s hospitals participate in NHSN, and infection preventionists (IPs) in those hospitals use NHSN for surveillance and reporting. The COVID-19 module will consist of fewer than 10 elements and will involve no patient-level data collection. The data will be able to be submitted using a manual entry or CSV file.
We invite you and your hospital to participate in a training on the module this Thursday, the 25th from 9:30am – 10:30am. A repeat training will be held Friday, the 26th from 9:30am – 10:30am. Slides will be provided for everyone who registers.
