Improving Care for Neurodiverse Patients

October 5, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

REGISTER HERE

Historically, healthcare policies, procedures, and training were designed from the perspective of neurotypical experience. This leads to systems and practices that unintentionally create barriers for our neurodiverse patients, such as those with a diagnosis of dementia or autism. As we look at ways to improve care, it is imperative that our care strategies evolve to meet the needs of all people in our communities.

In this webinar, Mullane Harrington, Program Director for Behavioral Health, and Malena Munroe, Clinical Nurse Educator, from PeaceHealth St. Joseph, will review what neurodiversity is, how neurodiverse patients experience traditional hospital interventions, what hospitals can do to create a more equitable environment for all patients, and how making those changes can lead to a more positive experience for both patients and staff.
