Building Empathy and Enhancing Safety: Sharing Community Innovations and Lessons Learned

May 13, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Overview

Creating systemic change can often feel overwhelming in the midst of attending to all of the responsibilities facing hospital staff today. In Building Empathy and Enhancing Safety: Sharing Community Innovations and Lessons Learned, we will hear from two hospitals who have implemented creative strategies to increase staff empathy, reduce workplace violence, and improve experiences of both staff and patients.

Featured Speakers:

Sara McCaslin, Creative Director at Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, and Mullane Harrington, Program Director for Behavioral Health at PeaceHealth, will each present innovative programs implemented in their facilities. These presentations will provide an overview of the program, how it was developed and implemented, and what lasting changes have been observed in the hospital system. Attendees will leave the event with concrete tools to take back to their facilities.
