Through the Safe Deliveries Roadmap (SDR) program, the Washington State Hospital Association and our partners strive to reduce preventable harm through promotion of evidenced base best practices bundles.
SDR partners with multiple agencies and organizations, including the State Department of Health (DOH), Healthcare Authority (Medicaid), March of Dimes, California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC) and others to improve maternal and infant health outcomes. SDR has implemented state-wide learning collaboratives and improved key maternal and infant health metrics across hospitals, both urban and rural, since 2012. SDR currently leads the state-wide Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) program in collaboration with the DOH. SDR engages with birthing hospitals across the state improving maternity services in multiple ways, including monthly educational webinars and peer-coaching calls, in-person conferences & learning sessions, hospital listening sessions (site visits), and data collection, gap analysis and data report distribution.
WSHA SDR Birth Equity Statement
We believe in anti-racist, equity in healthcare for all birthing people and babies. Every birthing person has the right to quality, whole-person, individualized care that is free from racism and discrimination and care that is delivered with respect, time, dignity, empathy, and compassion.
