The Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality (AHRQ) reported June 5 that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) initiatives have been successful in making care safer across the country. WSHA serves as one of CMS’s HIIN partners. AHRQ reported that national efforts to reduce hospital-acquired conditions, such as adverse drug events and injuries from falls, prevented an estimated 8,000 deaths and saved $2.9 billion between 2014 and 2016.
