WSHA Supports AHA Letter Urging COVID-19 Funding to Hospitals

April 29, 2020

Yesterday the American Hospital Association (AHA) sent a letter urging the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to better target COVID-19 funding to hospitals and health systems. AHA reports only about 44 percent of the $100 billion provider fund in the CARES Act are going to hospitals and health systems. In its letter, AHA asserted that the proportion of funding provided to hospitals and health systems thus far does not reflect the magnitude of COVID-19 response costs and lost revenues borne by hospitals and health systems. WSHA supports the American Hospital Association’s letter and is working with our Congressional delegation to urge sufficient funding for hospitals in Washington State.
