The Health Care Authority (HCA) will be finalizing the Hospital Safety Net Assessment program for SFY 2020 once the 2019-2021 biennial budget is passed. WSHA has sent to hospital CFOs and financial contacts the data HCA will be using to calculate taxable days and the distribution of payments under the program. WSHA asks that hospitals review the information for reasonableness so HCA can be informed of any significant issues before the SFY 2020 program calculations are finalized.
HCA uses Medicare cost report data to determine the number of assessed days and medicaid claims and managed care plan encounter data to calculate the distribution of payment among hospitals. Once the SFY 2020 program is finalized, WSHA will send hospitals estimates of their assessments and payments. (Andrew Busz, andrewb@wsha.org).
