Last month, WSHA staff provided a webinar to inform hospital staff about upcoming changes to the charity care law that go into effect October 1. The webinar focused on the steps hospitals need to take to comply with new requirements and resources to help members meet new obligations. WSHA actively pursued a bill during the 2018 legislative session to make improvements and clarify the state law on charity care (RCW 70.170). The final legislation represents a compromise with other stakeholders. (Zosia Stanley)
