WSHA meets with HHS and CMS leadership

January 30, 2019

This past week WSHA was able to meet with leadership from both HHS and CMS and advocate on issues important to our rural members. John Flink, WSHA’s federal lobbyist, joined the AHA and hospital advocates for a rural health summit with HHS Secretary Azar. Here in Seattle, WSHA CEO Cassie Sauer and Senior Director of Rural Health Programs Jacqueline Barton True were joined by Josh Martin, CEO of Summit Pacific Medical Center, for a meeting with Kimberly Brandt, the Chief of Policy and Operations at CMS. This was a great opportunity to discuss the innovation happening in our rural hospitals across the state, as well as concerns such as limits on who can prescribe durable medical equipment and diabetic supplies.
