In the last decade, diagnostic errors were the leading category of paid malpractice claims for U.S. hospitals, reaching about 30 percent with an estimated cost in the $50 billion – $100 billion range. More startling, it is estimated that diagnostic errors impact more than 12 million people each year and result in more than 40,000 deaths.
The Northwest Safety and Quality Partnership is working to improve outcomes related to diagnostic errors by bringing focus to diagnostic excellence as a quality measure. We invite health care leaders to join us for the first webinar in a series on this important topic on March 23 from 11 a.m. to noon. The audience for this series is chief medical officers, department heads, quality leaders and leaders from the multidisciplinary care teams. Click here to register.
