Throughout December and January, WSHA worked with ten rural members to apply, complete and submit capacity assessment plans to HCA. Some examples of the innovative projects submitted include: expanding access to local gym membership for high-risk populations; standardization of training for provider and medical billing specialists; development of a community paramedicine plan; informatics planning for data integration and reporting; and behavioral health integration training. This was a great opportunity for rural hospitals to access additional funds for innovative and anticipatory efforts towards rural healthcare transformation. HCA intends to follow these projects overtime and receive feedback on how the process went. WSHA will facilitate the meetings as a way of identifying actions we can take to improve the outcomes for similar work in the future. Congratulations to Ferry County PHD, Summit Pacific Medical Center, Skyline Hospital, Newport Hospital & Health Services, Kittitas Valley Healthcare, Klickitat Valley Health, Lake Chelan Community Hospital & Clinics, Jefferson Healthcare, Island Hospital and Ocean Beach Hospital & Medical Clinics for the award of $10,000 mini-grants.
