The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently finalized a rule establishing new Medicare episode payment models for acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery bypass graft and surgical hip/femur fracture treatment cases that do not involve joint replacement. These models will generally apply to the same set of hospitals involved in the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement program.
WSHA recently sent a copy of summary of the rule to its Finance contacts at affected hospitals. Hospital-specific analyses are being prepared and will be provided in the next few weeks.
