WHS’ LEAD Academy helps staff transition from peers to managers to leaders

April 22, 2021

In health care, as in most industries, staff are often promoted to their first management position because of their technical skills. But technical prowess rarely prepares one for leadership. WHS’s LEAD Academy provides a comprehensive, 12-module virtual training for new managers. The first module focuses on that all important first step – transitioning from peer to manager to leader. It breaks down key cognitive steps new managers must take to become effective leaders and offers participants a safe space to practice these new skills. Future modules focus on team building, coaching, running effective meetings, understanding and preparing budgets, and much more. This virtual, highly interactive program takes 2.5 hours every other week over 4 months, and leaves participants with concrete skills and dozens of tools they can use to further their management expertise. There are still spots open for the session beginning July 6.
