New site features new resources for patients and members
SEATTLE— The Washington State Hospital Association launched its new website this month, unveiling a suite of new resources to help the state’s hospitals keep patients safe and help patients get information they need for their care.
“One of the most important changes we’re seeing is the many ways we as individuals are making decisions about our own health care,” WSHA CEO and President Scott Bond said. “All of us are sometimes a patient, a consumer, a family member, a friend. So we wanted our website to be more accessible to the general public, whether they are looking for a hospital phone number or a greater understanding of patient safety and health care policy.”
The site features a new section devoted entirely to patients with information about hospital locations, quality and pricing data, hospital bills and financial assistance. See it here: www.wsha.org/for-patients/.
Other new features include:
- A new bookstore, full of materials that can be downloaded or ordered from WSHA: www.wsha.org/bookstore
- Newly designed portal for member-focused content: www.wsha.org/our-members/
- Headline news from member features (that are also in Weekly Report), for example, www.wsha.org/members/mason-general-hospital-family-of-clinics/ or www.wsha.org/members/evergreenhealth/
- Staff pages that connect staff with projects and news (e.g.,www.wsha.org/staff/carol-wagner/)
As with the previous site, the new site also contains the most current information about WSHA’s policy and advocacy work, our patient safety programs, and other statewide initiatives, such as Honoring Choices Pacific Northwest and Healthier Washington.
“We really made this new site with our members and residents in mind,” Bond said. “We’re able to offer providers the industry information they need to care for their communities while also guiding patients through the process of receiving the care they need. Health care continues to evolve, and we’re evolving along with it to ensure that we’re providing outstanding services to both our members and the public.”
The website was developed on a WordPress platform by Seattle Web Group, a local web development firm. They provide custom web development, ongoing website maintenance and usability consulting services to a broad variety of health care and other clients. In addition to building the new wsha.org, the firm also worked with WSHA to develop www.WAHospitalQuality.org, which makes complex patient-quality data available and understandable to the general public. They can be found online at www.seattlewebgroup.com.
