The University of Washington Medicine Center for Behavioral Health and Learning officially opened opened a new 150-bed psychiatric hospital in Seattle today. The hospital will admit its first inpatients, including older adults needing acute psychiatric care and those involuntarily committed through civil court processes, in a few weeks. An entire floor is reserved for specialized care for older adults with mental health diagnoses. The hospital will also serve people on 90- or 180-day civil commitments.
