On Friday, the legislature avoided a partial state government shutdown by mere hours by agreeing on a $43 billion operating budget. The results for health care overall are very good, and we’re especially grateful to see the advances that the legislature made in the state’s mental health system. While there is no capital budget yet, there are some key items of note for hospitals and health systems:
- No cuts to Medicaid payments for hospital-based clinics
- Hospital safety net assessment funded
- Significant progress on mental health care funding and reforms
- No increase to the business and occupation (B&O) tax
