Reminder on timely submission of newborn screening specimens

The State Laboratory has shared a reminder to hospitals that the closure of the Alaskan Way Viaduct in Seattle may affect transit times for newborn screening specimens. State law requires initial specimens to arrive at the State Laboratory in Shoreline within 72 hours after specimen collection. More information on newborn screening is available on the Department of Health website.
