Please join WSHA for a 90-minute webcast and Q&A on Ricky’s Law on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, from 12-1:30 p.m. Ricky’s Law applies Washington’s Involuntary Treatment Act to people experiencing a substance use-related crisis. This webcast is a must-attend event for emergency department medical directors, administrators and social workers. The webcast will include several presentations, including:

  • A Ricky’s Law primer by the Health Care Authority’s ITA Coordinator, Allison Wedin
  • The provider perspective: assessing and referring potential Ricky’s Law patients by Dr. Ryan Keay, President, American College of Emergency Physicians-Washington chapter; Medical Director, Emergency Department, Providence Regional Medical Center Everett
  • Evaluations by Designated Crisis Responders (DCRs), including client scenarios and FAQs by Jessica Shook, President of the Washington Designated Crisis Responders (DCR) Association, and Crisis Manager for Olympic Health and Recovery Services, and other DCRs from around the state
  • Profiles of Washington’s Secure Withdrawal Management and Stabilization Facilities by Tony Prentice, Chief Operating Officer, for ABHS Facilities in Chehalis and Spokane, and Richard Geiger, Vice President, Inpatient Services, Valley Cities

A Q&A with the webcast’s panelists will follow the presentations. Come with your questions! All hospital staff are invited and welcome.
