WSHA is hosting a three-part webinar series this spring providing training and guidance for hospital leadership and staff to create safe, respectful and affirming experiences for patients when collecting gender identity and sexual orientation (SOGI) information. The next webinar is from 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 23. You can find registration information for this webinar and the others in the series on our SOGI webinar flyer. Guest presenter Beau Ohlgren leads the series.
Washington hospitals are required to collect patient self-identified demographics. While race, ethnicity and language may be familiar to registration and nursing staff, gender identity (which may be different than sex assigned at birth) and sexual orientation may be new.
We invite you to learn more about how SOGI data collection impacts health care quality, the right way to invite patients to self-identify in a safe space and practice responding to patient scenarios in roleplay activities. This webinar series is free and open to all those who are interested. (Abby Berube)
