Provider alert issued regarding increased concern of suicide risk in youth during COVID-19

The Washington State Department of Health recently released a provider alert regarding suicide risk in youth during COVID-19. The pandemic has created several factors that may lead to an increased risk of suicide attempts, suicide ideation and psychological distress among young people. These factors include the extended disillusionment phase of the pandemic, disruption of school, social isolation and reduced daylight hours. The provider alert includes statistics regarding the increased risk of suicide in youth, as well as screening tools and prevention and intervention resources.
