OIC Seeks Input on Rulemaking for Surprise Billing Law by June 14

June 12, 2019

The Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) is seeking input on rulemaking for HB 1065, the new surprise billing law. Prior to initiating formal rulemaking, OIC is seeking input from stakeholders regarding which provisions of the new law need further clarification or development through rulemaking. OIC also wants stakeholder input on whether rulemaking should be done through a single proceeding, or separately by subject. Stakeholders can provide input via a stakeholder meeting Friday, June 14, 2019 from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm at the OIC offices at 5000 Capitol Blvd, Tumwater. Stakeholders can also submit written comments to rulesC@oic.wa.gov by close of business on June 14, 2019.

WSHA recently released a bulletin about the new law and has scheduled a webinar for 12:00 Wednesday, June 19 at 12:00 pm. For more details and registration, visit our implementation guide webpage. (Andrew Busz, andrewb@wsha.org)
