The Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) is seeking input as it updates the notice of consumer rights under the state’s Balance Billing Protection Act to conform with the federal No Surprise Act. OIC has already made available an updated version of the notice, including translations, but under the law must obtain input from health carriers, health care providers, health care facilities, and consumers before finalizing the notice.
OIC has prepared a draft notice for review and comment. Please submit any comments regarding the notice to policy@oic.wa.gov by April 6, 2022. WSHA is asking member hospitals to also let us know if they have comments or concerns with the draft notice. (Andrew Busz, AndrewB@wsha.org).
